T’s & C’s for submissions

All submissions to be in line with Quercus precepts and beliefs, the most important of these forming the Quercus mantra: be loving, be kind and be wise.

Nothing offensive or hurtful will be used nor anything with violence or sexual content, nor anything at all which could cause distress.

We understand why some people would not wish to put their real names but instead of making up a handle  we ask that you use abbreviations: e.g. below an item, we will put kindly submitted by J S (Jane Smith) AK.

Submissions which contain photos or pictures such as those used in the Natural World section or the Places section should include a brief description of what is being sent with all pictures labelled please. In line with our Quercus 12 policy we will show 1 2 3 4 6 or 12 photos. We will only alter them if absolutely necessary. For example they may be too dark or something might need cropping out. Please inform us if you do not like the end result. Quercus 12 policy is simply that we aim, as far as is sensible, to use divisors and multiples of 12 in our layouts.

Descriptions should be in multiples approximately of 12 words long, up to a maximum of 72 words.

Replies to Thoughts On posts, or Short Thoughts posts should be submitted on the Q Forum page. Comments about other posts can be submitted on the Q Comments page.

If anyone wishes to put up their own Article on an aspect of life they are especially interested in, such as politics, education, religion, the natural world, sport, books, cooking, poetry or anything else we will publish it for 3 months. Primary and secondary schools, and post -16 colleges, are welcome to submit up to 12 items in one file per school or college for 3 months provided the file is clearly labelled and has a link to their website.

We are not inviting contributions to the “Thank You” page but we hope you agree that it contains some of the most important thoughts on our website.  We invite you instead, whatever your age, to do your own thank you’s in your own way. You could perhaps keep a thank you diary for a week, or use social media to say thank you; you could send, or give, thank you cards to people or you could make up a rhyme to say thank you. And when Christmas comes how about reviving the old tradition of a thank you letter!

We are hoping to invite people to write their own Memoirs in the belief that these will be as interesting and insightful as the memoirs of celebs or the great and the good. We will put these on line and for a small charge make them into booklets.

If anyone wishes to sell anything in our Shop such as second hand books, paintings, craft items or similar, we will welcome these up to a value of £250.00. There will be a charge of 10% on the price received.
